Once a year...
I would like to take the fact that the year is about to end to put my résumé at chance.
By now I am in the professional games industry for over ten years and Mobile Game Design is almost 8 years old.
A lot happend during this time, but not often it was as eventful as the last year.
A lot of developers traveld the way using NDS and webgames and even more had to seperate from the traditional publisher - developer relationship. More will follow the
next year. Only in Germany the main three contractors cannot see the future in NDS games any longer.
More and more will try to gain ground in webgames. But at the same time the mayor providers for webgames do not work with external teams any longer
and hence it will become more uncertain for some, were the change - which is unescapeable - will lead to.
Even at my first project 'Gothic' I wished for more executive managers from non games businesses in the games industry.
To let creatives be creative, to allow programmers to build wild things in front of your very eyes, the commercial background must be assured.
This can only happen if this part is handled well.
This is one of the reasons why I started to look into PMI and PMBOK (standards in project management), adding some risk management
and economies should round up things for project management.
Far from it! Further up I asked to let the creatives be creative. Which means, that the communication into and in the team must be harmonious.
For me this meant to learn professional Coaching.
So -- now that we have the tools, we still do not know what is going to happen to us. Not?
I am clear in my mind that we still do not serve the target groups right. Are you positive that the young and old are that different?
There still are some hardly touched issues. Talking to old people, gamers and adolescent, I learned that there is a strong desire
to grow together, to be frank with each other and less ignorant. It's time to listen again and be less ignorant.
